Setting Up the DSE controller’s Serial Communication Parameters on the DSE Configuration Suite

This document will guide you through setting up the DSE controller communication serial parameters for communication with the Polar Gateway using the DSE Configuration Suite.

Make sure to have the following:

  • USB 2.0 or 3.0 Type B.
  • DSE Configuration Suite installed.
  • The DSE Controller.

Steps to follow:

  1. Connect the USB to the DSE controller.
  2. Run the DSE Configuration Suite Software.
  3. Set up the DSE serial communications.

1. Connect the USB to the DSE controller.

Make sure you already have a USB 3.0 or 2.0 Type B cable.

2. Run the DSE Configuration Suite Software.

Make sure to have your DSE Configuration Suite installed on your PC. Once you’ve got the software installed, run the software and get ready to configure the communication parameters for the Polar Gateway.

3. Set up the DSE serial communications.

Read configuration from the controller.

Make sure you have the controller connected to your computer via USB type B cable and set the device to stop mode before you read configuration from a module.

Select RS485 Port.

Under chosen controller model, select Communications to access the device’s communication opptions.

Under Communications, select RS485 Port to changed the serial communication settings.

Configure Communication parameters  for RS485 Port.

Note: It is critical to change the default settings to reflect the table below.

Note: By connecting the RS-485 port the modules operate as a MODBUS RTU slave device.

You may now sign in to the Polar Portal to monitor the device remotely, the button on the right will take you through a setup process.
